Banjoist Jim Smoak of Pekin and the LA Honeydrippers thrilled a capacity crowd that filled the main display area at The Depot during the annual Christmas open house Sunday, Dec. 7.
This was the third Christmas open house in which Smoak had performed. Following last year's packed house, word was out and fans were waiting for him when he arrived at The Depot shortly before the doors opened.
For three hours the group (pictured here) performed, playing many favorites from their CDs and responding to requests.
In addition to music, the open house provided visitors an opportunity to view the large model railroad in The Depot's basement Train Room. The model depicts Washington County as it was 50 years ago and features many handmade buildings that are exact replicas of structures that existed in Salem, Pekin and Campbellsburg around 1960.
Visitors also toured exhibits and enjoyed homemade cookies, hot cider and coffee.
