Depot/Packed House - November 30, 2011

Our playing for Christmas Open House at the Depot in Salem, Indiana has become an annual event. This year we had Mike Cleveland on fiddle and mandolin and he was on fire. Brian Allen took care of the guitar while Rob Whitmer was a govener with the bass. Johanna Smoak added harmony with solos thrown in, and her appearance tended to make the whole group look better.

Bill Monroe One Hundredth - September 18, 2011

Sure was nice to be in Owensboro, Kentucky in September at the International Bluegrass Music Museum for the Bill Monroe centennial. Quite a few of the Bluegrass Boys were on hand and some of us got together and played a tune or two. I heard Earl Scruggs and his sons play; I saw and heard the Doug Dillard band; I heard the Whites, Ralph Stanley, and the Lewis Tradition.
Thanks Bluegrass Museum for all your work.

I'll Be in Owensboro, KY again this year for the gathering of the pioneers of Bluegrass Music. This all takes place at the International Bluegrass Music Museum and RiverPark Center. 10:00 AM til 10:00 PM June 24th.

The International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, KY hosted the first ever gathering of the pioneers of Bluegrass Music June 26, 2008. There were some there I hadn't seen in over fifty years, and some I had only heard of, and now met. Wow! Rhonda and I had fun. Thanks Bluegrass Museum.
