Jim Smoak: Music

Am I Blue

(Jim Smoak)
Grant Clark/ Harry Akst

This song was written in 1929. I liked it ever since I heard my uncle John play it at family get-togethers. I have a recording of it by Bette Middler.

"Am I blue? Am I Blue? Ain't these tears in my eyes tellin' you?" Am I blue? You'd be too; if each plan with your gal done fell through.

There was a time, I was her only one; but now I'm, the sad and lonely one; Was I happy and gay, til the day she went away; Now she's gone and were through, am I blue.
